Biography
Growing up in the suburbs of Melbourne (Australia) I took up learning guitar at the age of twelve. Two older siblings were bringing the latest musical trends of the late sixties and early seventies into the house. Things like Daddy Cool and The Allman Brothers Band I remember well. My first guitar lessons introduced me to the blues, my teacher being a big fan of Dutch Tilders. This had immediate appeal and has remained a strong influence on my music until the present day.
Music, especially guitar playing, guided me through my adolescence. I learned songs and licks from records, formed various garage bands and wrote songs now long forgotten. Various musical styles were pursued, from classical to jazz-rock. Then, with the synth and drum-machine - or punk rock - music fashions of the eighties, I became disillusioned and put down my guitar for ten years. I’d just graduated from art school, and so set off and travelled the world. Four and a half years were spent in Japan pursuing art and sculpture.
My guitar was waiting for me when I arrived back from overseas. From the moment I picked it up I couldn’t stop playing. Songs began to flow without effort. This was my own music, inspired by the places I had been, the people I had met and experiences I had. From then on it all made sense.
The songs keep coming and the passion continues to grow. I sought out a teacher to help me train my voice and began to perform around Melbourne. From this new friendships keep growing now with the release of ‘Sliding To Your Destiny’ I look forward to reaching a bigger audience to share my music.
